UKATE Investment Gateway Programme (IGP)

UK Africa Trade Expo – Post-Event Investment Matchmaking Model.

At UK Africa Trade Expo (UKATE), our networking platform is more than just a place to exchange business cards—it is a high-calibre ecosystem designed to create tangible economic impact.

The UKATE Investment Matchmaking Programme (IMP) is a structured follow-up initiative designed to connect founders, SMEs, and entrepreneurs who attended the UK Africa Trade Expo with verified UK and global investors.

Objective:
To facilitate meaningful introductions that could lead to funding, joint ventures, or strategic partnerships between African founders and UK investors, while generating a fair commission for UKATE upon successful deals.

Disclaimer: UKATE does not provide financial guarantees or investment promises. The role of UKATE is limited to facilitating introductions and preliminary due diligence between both parties.

Step 1: Expression of Interest (EOI)
•Founders complete an online “Funding Request Form” via the UKATE portal or shared link.
•The form captures:
•Company name, sector, and location
•Business summary (max 1 page)
•Funding amount sought
•Type of funding (Equity / Debt / Grant / JV / Partnership)
•Use of funds and expected ROI
•Previous funding received (if any)

Step 2: Non-Circumvention & Non-Disclosure Agreement (NCNDA)
•Before any introductions, founders must digitally sign a standard NCNDA to protect UKATE’s role in the facilitation process.
•Key clauses include:
•Confidentiality of investor data and communications
•Prohibition of direct contact with investors without UKATE involvement
•Acknowledgment of UKATE’s introducer rights and commission entitlements.
Step 3: Initial Review & Vetting
•UKATE’s internal review team (or appointed partners) will:
•Conduct a basic due diligence on the founder/company (registration, team, proof of concept, etc.)
•Assess the investment readiness level
•Match the project to relevant investor profiles within UKATE’s database

Step 4: Introduction Phase
•UKATE formally introduces the project to one or more interested investors via:
•Email or online pitch deck submission
•Virtual/physical meetings coordinated by UKATE
•Both parties receive an Introduction Record Form to acknowledge UKATE as the intermediary.
Step 5: Success Fee & Commission Agreement
•Upon investor interest and funding success, the founder agrees to pay UKATE a commission.
Commission is payable upon successful completion of funding or investment receipt.
•UKATE may also agree on a success fee retainer for ongoing fundraising rounds.

Step 6: Tracking & Reporting
•Each transaction will have a Deal Tracker ID logged in UKATE’s CRM (e.g. Notion or Airtable).
•Periodic reports will be generated to:
•Track introductions made
•Monitor deal progress
•Record commission due and collected.
Step 7: Future Collaboration
•Founders who complete at least one successful deal will be invited to join the UKATE Founders Circle, granting:
•Priority access to future investor matchmaking
•Access to mentorship and investor readiness programmes
•Co-branding opportunities at UKATE events.
